Just tell him that you want to try going out - be more than friends, and if he just wants to be friends with you, that's fine. You can deal with that... Can't you? It should be enough to have this special guy in your life and such... So tell him that. tell him you value his friendship more than anything, though, and if he doesn't like you, then being friends is enough... Tell him you wondered if his 8th grade offer still stood, and if not, that it was okay. This should help, and if it doesn't... I wish you the best of luck.
