Sirius mythology?

Well, I've been researchign some mythology, and some of teh stuff connected to teh name Sirius. I know it's a star, and that it's actually a large black dog, but is it in mythology in any way? Is it connected to Fenrir? If anyone coudl give me anymore information about it also, that would be helpful. Thanks to all that answer!!
