Matthew 23:16-22 . How would you explain these scriptures (long question)?

The commentary is fine for a surface understanding, but those scriptures are not really speaking of just swearing on something. It's talking about law verses heart. Jesus is telling them they have lost the spirit of the law and gained only the letter of the law, which does nothing.
